As a person born in 1995, Nepathya’s music has played a significant role in shaping my cultural identity and has had a profound impact on my life. Nepathya is a Nepali folk-rock band that has been active since 1990s, and their unique blend of traditional Nepali music with modern rock influences has made them a household name in Nepal.
How was I introduced to the band?
I was first introduced to Nepathya’s music at a very young age, through my parents, older siblings, televisions and radios. I still remember my older cousin(Prakash Shrestha) being a big fan of their music. Their music was always playing in the background of my childhood, and I grew up listening to their songs without really understanding the lyrics. However, even at a young age, I could sense the energy and emotion in their music, and it had a powerful effect on me.
How it became part of my life?
As I got older, I began to pay more attention to the lyrics of Nepathya’s songs. I was completely immersed in the powerful messages in their music, which often dealt with themes of social justice, nationalism, and our cultures. Their songs spoke about the life of the Nepali people as well as the deep connection to Nepal.
Songs like “Taal ko pani” became a compulsory dance song when out with friends or families. Nepathya’s songs including “Chekyo Chekyo”, “Jomsomai Bazaar”, “Resham”, “Jogale Hunxa Veta”, “Chari maryo” and “Maya Garne Bani” were some of the most played songs in my playlist. These songs are also considered as some of the classic Nepali songs and have been loved by many generations. The band’s ability to blend the traditional Nepali instruments with modern rock sounds has made them stand out from others.
Does their songs affect me in anyway?
As I grew up, Nepathya’s music played a significant role in shaping my cultural identity. Their songs helped me understand and appreciate the rich tradition and history of Nepal. Their music also gave me a sense of pride in my country and its people and helped me dig deeper into life and happiness. Furthermore, the band’s message of unity, peace and always resonated with me.
My wish to hear them live is finally coming true
As a huge fan of Nepathya, I was beyond excited to hear that they were going to be performing live in Darwin on January 25th. This was going to be my first time ever seeing them perform live, and I couldn’t wait to experience the energy and emotion of their music in person. I had always heard stories of how powerful their live performances were, and I am eager to see it for myself. I know that this is going to be a night to remember, and I couldn’t wait to be a part of it.
The show is going to be even better with my friends. Their music has been in our ears for years, and we are all excited to finally see them live together. Being able to share the experience with my friends is going to make it even more special, and I know we will have a great time singing along to our favorite songs and dancing to the music. It is going to be a night to remember, and I couldn’t wait to be there with my friends to enjoy it.
